Policy Title

Archiving & Digital Preservation Policy

Policy Statement

The Journal of Business Analytics and Management Systems (JBAMS) is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility, integrity, and preservation of all published scholarly content. JBAMS adopts appropriate digital preservation practices to protect journal records against accidental loss, data corruption, cyber threats, and platform disruptions, and to ensure that published content remains available to the scholarly community over time.

Digital Preservation Commitment

JBAMS implements preservation measures designed to:

  • Safeguard published articles, issues, and journal metadata
  • Maintain the integrity and authenticity of the scholarly record
  • Ensure continued access during technical failures or migration events
  • Support sustainable long-term open access availability

Archiving & Preservation Methods

JBAMS supports content preservation through the following systems and approaches:

1.       Regular Backups & Continuity Measures

To maintain operational stability and prevent loss of journal records, JBAMS performs:

  • Routine backups of journal files, databases, and publication records
  • Secure storage of backup files with restoration capability
  • Periodic checks to verify recoverability and continuity readiness

These measures support restoration of content, issues, and editorial records in the event of platform disruption or system failure.

2.       PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

Where enabled and applicable, JBAMS supports preservation through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a distributed preservation service designed for journals running Open Journal Systems (OJS). PKP PN supports long-term accessibility and disaster recovery of published content.

3.       LOCKSS/CLOCKSS Compatibility

JBAMS supports compatibility with widely recognized distributed archiving frameworks such as:

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)

Integration depends on system configuration, service availability, and technical readiness. JBAMS aims to align with distributed preservation standards where feasible.

4.       Preservation of the Scholarly Record

JBAMS preserves essential publication records, including:

  • Final published article files (PDF/HTML where applicable)
  • Complete article metadata (authors, affiliations, keywords, abstracts, references)
  • Issue contents and official publication dates
  • Corrections, retractions, or update notices (if applicable)

This ensures the scholarly record remains complete, traceable, and reliable.

Permanent Availability

All JBAMS published content is intended to remain permanently accessible on the official journal website as part of the formal publication record. In the event of system migration, hosting upgrades, or platform changes, JBAMS will implement continuity measures to ensure uninterrupted access to published materials.

Access, Integrity & Recovery Assurance

JBAMS applies risk-reduction strategies to protect against:

  • Accidental deletion and data corruption
  • Server or hosting disruption
  • Platform failure or migration-related issues
  • Unauthorized alterations to published records

Preserved content is maintained to support reliable retrieval, long-term access, and authenticity of published versions.

Indexing Readiness Statement (Optional)

JBAMS follows recognized digital preservation standards and supports distributed archiving where technically feasible to ensure long-term open access availability.
